Three variety Cherry Tree – May 2023

This sort of graft we have performed a number of times with apples, but we have not done it with cherries.

The grafts were all ‘side’ graft. In other words a knife cut was made into the side of the rootstock, with the scion cut of both sides, to match the shape of the cut on rootstock.

It is best to work from the top most scion downwards, as its easier to cover with grafting tape.

The top and bottom grafts can be seen to have taken, with the grafting tape splitting. The middle graft is a little behind.
