Very unusual to see this in the orchard or garden

 

Here we have a crab apple that has fallen during the winter. Amazingly it was not eaten by the birds or the mice. It has rotted down during late winter/spring, and the seeds inside the apple have all started growing.

Whats even more strange is that there are other varieties of apples in the same situation, but none have the seeds growing, only this crab apple.
