The bugs / insects are here today 9th May 2012. Not sure what they are, but there’s hundreds of them.

It looks as thou these are good guys then.

Adult St Mark’s flies (Bibio marci) are thought to be important pollinators of fruit trees and other crops.

But

Larvae feed on decaying organic matter and the roots of grasses, and can occasionally be pests of lawns and cereal crops.
