Grafting Mistletoe onto and old Apple tree – August 2022

Do you remember my blog post about grafting apple tree scions onto an old Apple tree. The scions having already been inoculated with mistletoe seed, that came from a neighbors garden.

Well here is an update in August 2022, and the grand unveiling, and removal of the grafting sealing tape.

The  gray gaffer tape did not give enough support, so a few extra turns of yellow electricians tape was applied. How many Mistletoe’s can you see in this photo (One)

Some people may say that there is far too much callusing

The gray gaffer tape removed, showing more callusing on the main trunk.

A nice photo showing possible 3 Mistletoe shoots, with one growing very nicely.

A blown up image of the above photo, showing the Mistletoe seed root has penetrated the bark.

Hoping all survives this years drought after all the efforts.
