Godolphin, Cornwall NT, I was expecting a bit more than I got from this visit. OK its a good story, but lacking outside.

godolphin_nt_18102013cAn apple orchard on the side lawn with mainly Bramley apples seemingly planted in 1965. Most of them labelled up, even with ‘not known’.

godolphin_nt_18102013dThe 2 main ponds, that were empty. Not sure if meant to be, but you could see how they were constructed.

godolphin_nt_18102013fThe Cider house, that I could not access. The newly planted apple trees adjacent were a strange conglomeration of varieties that seemed out of place, like a Nottingham Pippin, and a Penny cherry to name but a few.

Do not try and find the ‘Old Orchard’ as it does not exist, and as far as I could see there were no remains of any old tree. Possibly a tennis court sized area within a woodland that had some low growing shrubs/trees compared to the taller trees around it.

godolphin_nt_18102013eStrangely in front of the main house stands a set of nice Medlar trees.
