Fire blight bacterium (Erwina amylovora)
The european fire blight control agent called Blossom Protect. It works by applying a living bacterium that is specifically antagonistic to fire blight growth, Bacillus subtilis, strain BD170, directly to flower buds and through blossoming at specific intervals.
It is safe to us AND to bees and the only danger is there are some people who when exposed to large doses can develop an allergy to it. I repeat large doses as in working in the laboratory growth areas and extended exposure, so if one is specifically allegeric-susceptible to ‘common soil micro-organisms’, I would avoid being the sprayer or breathing the spray. Other than that the stuff is pretty safe.
Anyway here’s a link to buy the stuff to those who are interested Blossom Protect
