Creating a family tree is so very tempting, especially if you have limited space. I have been doing a batch of cleft grafts using P22 as the apple rootstock. But a word of caution. You must select the varieties with the same growth characteristics. The below photos shown that one variety is more stronger growing than the other. Or it could be just a dodgy graft. The only option is the stronger growing variety will need more pruning to keep it in proportion with the not so strong growing variety.<\/p>\n
