Just a few more Fruit varieties from our Orchard – End Nov/Dec 2023

For this post, out first variety is a Persimmon – Hira-tanenashi. It is an аstringent variety and the fruits should be left on the tree until full ripening, up to December. They are thick skinned which means they can be be stored for a long time. The Astringent taste may stay if the fruits were picked before they ripened. The skin colour is bright orange, also its flesh is bright orange and very juicy.

Our next variety is a Cider Apple called Binet Rouge. We highlight this variety not only for it being a cider variety, but for its ornamental looks. It has a very long flowering period, so it can produce very heavy crops. Even when the leaves have dropped off in late autumn, the fruit still hang on the tree, which gives a good show of red/orange coloured fruit.
