Originated from Normandy, France that is well known for producing an excellent cider. Classified as a bittersweet, and often used in the manufacture of Calvados. If flowers in mid May, generally missing the frosts. It can be biennial as it produces very heavy crops one year, and not many the following year. It is harvested and left till December to be crushed.
