Last frost of the winter ?? 1st and 2nd May 2014

It really went down cold for the last few nights. After way above average temperatures for the past few weeks and a very mild winter, a lot of the fruit trees are in flower early this year. We were expecting a bumper crop of fruit, and then a late frost. It went down to -2 deg C, and it caught the leaves of our walnuts, grapes and surprisingly the tips of many apple trees went black and the leaves are turning dry and crispy. Some of our almonds, apricots and peaches have started dropping there small set fruit. However some varieties do not seem to have been affected, namely quinces and plums.
