Montmorency cherries are ripe

Montmorency cherries are 2 weeks earlier (7th July)  than Morello cherries (21st July). These are cooking cherries also known as Duke cherries or sour/acid cherries, can be used in pies etc and cocktails.

The bushes are dripping with Montmorency cherries, there is just too many.

Prunus cerasus is a species of Prunus native to much of Europe and southwest Asia. It is closely related to the sweet cherry, but has a fruit that is more acidic, and they have greater nutritional benefits.

This is an easy way of gathering them and de piping them at the same time. The cherries have to be used straight away thou
