This years heavy producer of Apricots is the variety ‘Kioto’. This can sometimes be bought at supermarkets, having been breed in France, but grown in Italy etc. But the photo shows that it can be grown successfully outdoors in an ‘open’ field orchard. However the ripening dates are the end of June for the Mediterranean countries, we will see how that goes in our cooler UK climate.
Kioto is self fertile and blooms later than most. It can over bear so thinning may be required to increase fruit size.
